Kenneth W. Robuck

President and CEO

Ken Robuck was appointed President and CEO of EnergySolutions in July 2018.  Mr. Robuck joined EnergySolutions in August 2013 as President of the Company’s Disposal and Nuclear Decommissioning Division.  Ken brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the utilities industry and in developing and managing new areas and markets.

Prior to joining EnergySolutions, Mr. Robuck was President of Williams Industrial Services Group, LLC, from 2006, where he was responsible for the management of a multi-regional, industrial construction and maintenance company, serving a broad customer base including petrochemical, steel, and power (both fossil and nuclear).

Mr. Robuck served as Vice President and General Manager of Alberici Constructors, Inc. from 2000 to 2005 and was responsible for the development and management of the Energy & Chemicals Division. From 1996-2000, he was the President of Williams Power Corporation, where he successfully led the Company’s revenue growth by diversifying into new areas and additional markets.

Steven Birchfield

Chief Financial Officer

Steve Birchfield joined EnergySolutions in June 2023 and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team.  Having spent much of his career in the energy sector, Steve’s broad experiences in natural gas, power and nuclear bring a unique perspective as CFO and insight to the role EnergySolutions plays in the nuclear sector.

Prior to joining EnergySolutions, Steve spent the last nine years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Summit Utilities. Summit is a private natural gas distribution company with utilities serving 625,000 customers in six states.  Prior to Summit, Steve held various finance leadership roles with Essential Power, Tennessee Valley Authority and Progress Energy (now part of Duke Energy)

Throughout his career, Steve has had a track record of success in managing financial operations, implementing strategic financial plans and driving growth.  Steve holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida.

Jeff Richardson

Chief Operating Officer of Decommissioning and Decontamination

Mr. Richardson is responsible for all aspects of company operations for decommissioning, waste management, processing, logistics, and disposal as well as companywide strategic initiatives and execution. Additionally, he leads the environmental, health & safety, regulatory affairs, project management & controls, and quality assurance functions within EnergySolutions.

Jeff has over 30 years of power generation and nuclear operating experience. Specifically, his background includes developing, leading, & managing complex, multidiscipline projects, teams, & initiatives ranging from construction megaprojects, corporate reorganizations, new business development, major engineering initiatives, supply chain management/alliances, & organizational transformations.

Jeff is a registered Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He is an avid runner, cyclist and endurance athlete. Jeff and Trish have been married for over thirty years and divide their time between Jackson, Mississippi and Charlotte, North Carolina, and with their daughters, Macy, in Jackson, and Molly, and son-in-law, John, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Billy Morrison

Chief Operating Officer of Waste, Federal Services, Commercial Development and Strategy

Billy Morrison joined EnergySolutions in August 2022 as the Chief Operating Officer overseeing Waste, Federal Services, International, Commercial Development and Strategy. This is Billy’s second opportunity with EnergySolutions having previously served as President of EnergySolutions’ Government Group until 2016 when that division was sold to WS Atkins.

Billy has over thirty-five years of experience in the DOE Cleanup and Commercial nuclear markets. In his previous position he served as President & Chief Executive Officer for Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services with overall responsibilities for Nuclear North America. He has led both the sell and buy side of mergers and acquisitions in support of company strategic initiatives. Throughout his career, he served in numerous project and site leadership positions, and led key initiatives to improve safety, business unit performance, cost effectiveness, and human performance. His professional experience spans across the Department of Energy complex and commercial nuclear markets and has provided him the opportunity to support clients through some of the most technically complex and operationally intensive environmental cleanup and remediation projects globally.

Billy graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (B.E.E.) Electrical 1983-1986.

Brent H. Shimada

Chief Administrative Officer

Brent Shimada, Chief Administrative Officer, has been with EnergySolutions since July 2011.  Prior to joining EnergySolutions, he was Vice President Administration and General Counsel for Otix Global, Inc. (formerly Sonic Innovations, Inc.) (NYSE: OTIX), from October 2004.

Between May 1999 to October 2004, he was Human Resources Director for American Express’ Global Travelers Cheque Operations Group. Mr. Shimada served as Senior Corporate Counsel for grocery and drug retail conglomerate, American Stores Company, from 1996 to 1999.  He was Legal Counsel for Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (formerly Hercules Incorporated), a government contractor, from 1985 to 1996.

Mr. Shimada earned Bachelor’s (Finance), MBA and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Utah.

Russell Workman

General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Russ Workman was appointed as General Counsel in 2012. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Workman had 22 years of experience advising and representing U.S. and international companies in commercial transactions, litigation, and corporate governance.

Mr. Workman is licensed to practice in Utah and admitted to practice before the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. He received a Juris Doctor degree from the University Of Utah College Of Law.

Amy HazelHoff

SVP, Regulatory Affairs

Amy Hazelhoff joined EnergySolutions in December 2022 as the Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs.  Amy is responsible for managing EnergySolutions interactions with a variety of state and federal regulators, including the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She is responsible for ensuring that all sites and projects operate in conformance with Federal, State and local regulations.  Amy’s oversight includes managing all EnergySolutions actions with the NRC, including nuclear decommissioning projects, radioactive waste management, and LLRW cask licensing.  Additionally, Amy oversees quality assurance functions.

Amy has more than 25 years of nuclear power experience.  Specifically, her background includes regulatory affairs, major projects, and design engineering.   Amy has provided management and oversight of nuclear licensing activities, decommissioning, compliance, emergency planning and major projects in previous executive roles she has held.   

Amy graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) in 1996.  Amy resides in Traverse City, Michigan with her husband, John.  Amy has a son, Thomas, in Kalamazoo, Michigan and a daughter, Grace, in Oxford, Mississippi. 

John T Sauger

Chief Nuclear Officer

Mr. Sauger is responsible for all commercial D&D projects, including Zion Station in Ill. and the Lacrosse Boiling Water Reactor in Wisconsin. Mr. Sauger has more than 30 years of commercial nuclear experience covering the entire nuclear life cycle. John was the original decommissioning manager for the Maine Yankee project where he developed risk and project management systems, contract acquisition strategy, and led the first year of decommissioning execution.

Since 2013, John has led a fast‑paced transformation of the Zion Station decommissioning project such that Zion is the benchmark against which future decommissioning projects will be measured. As a utility executive, Sauger led the completion of the $5.2 billion refurbishment of the Bruce Nuclear Units 1 & 2 in Canada.  Working as a Senior V.P. for the Shaw Group, he directed the construction of non‑nuclear facilities in Afghanistan, Oman, and Italy. John developed the concept for the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal flood barrier in New Orleans as well as the reconstruction of numerous levees following hurricane Katrina. John is a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine and resides in Tennessee.

Joe Heckman

President, Waste Management

Joe Heckman joined EnergySolutions in September 1997.   He has held various management positions throughout EnergySolutions, including Operations Director of the Erwin ResinSolutions Facility and General Manager of Bear Creek Processing Operations.  Joe began his career at EnergySolutions as a Radiation Safety Technician at the Clive facility. Prior to joining EnergySolutions, Joe held radiation safety positions in commercial nuclear power plants, Department of Energy facilities, and environmental remediation sites.

Joe served as an infantryman with the United States Marine Corps from 1986 until 1992 including deployment to Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Joe received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology with a focus in Radiation Safety from Thomas Edison State College.

David A Campbell

Executive Vice President, Business Development and Growth

Mr. Campbell is responsible for all aspects of business development and implementing the company’s growth strategies across the utility, commercial, federal, and international sectors.  In addition to his experience as a senior executive in private industry as well as within the US government, he brings a unique experience of over thirty years across the nuclear, defense and environmental markets helping companies break into and grow in existing and new markets. David’s expertise in managing and implementing government, corporate, and commercial business development, marketing, and communications programs across North America and internationally will be a key factor in our push to grow across all our sectors.  

David resides in the Washington DC area and holds a BS in Political Science and Economics from James Madison University and a MA in International Relations and National Security from George Washington University.

Allison A. Rowett

VP, Human Resources

Allison Rowett is a seasoned nuclear business leader in human resources, having spent over fifteen years in HR leadership roles within the nuclear industry. Prior to joining EnergySolutions in 2022, Allison lead the HR team for Framatome Inc (formerly known as Areva Inc.) in North America since 2016. She joined Framatome in 2007, working in various HR roles involving talent development, recruitment, HRIS, total rewards, HR operations and payroll. Prior to joining Framatome/Areva, Allison held several HR leadership roles in the real estate development and high tech/software industries. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from Albertus Magnus College in Connecticut. Allison is passionate about working to promote STEM initiatives, ensuring under represented groups such as women and minorities have a place in highly technical industries.
